About The Register-Herald
The Register-Herald is a historic community newspaper based in Eaton, Ohio, that has served as the primary print and digital news provider for Preble County for over two centuries. Tracing its roots back to the Eaton Register, which was first published in 1820 by Cornelius VanAusdal, the current publication was formed on March 18, 1918, through a merger with the Eaton Herald. Operating from its offices at 150 Industrial Drive, the newspaper distributes a paid Wednesday print edition alongside a free weekend edition on Saturdays to keep local residents informed. Previously a division of AIM Media Midwest, the publication transitioned to new ownership under West Virginia-based HD Media LLC. The newspaper delivers dedicated local coverage of county commissioners, municipal school boards, agricultural milestones, community events, and Preble County high school sports.
