Tracing its roots back to the Eaton Register, which was first published in 1820 by Cornelius VanAusdal, the current publication was formed on March 18, 1918, through a merger with the Eaton Herald. Operating from its offices at 150 Industrial Drive, the newspaper distributes a paid Wednesday print edition alongside a free weekend edition on Saturdays to keep local residents informed. Previously a division of AIM Media Midwest, the publication transitioned to new ownership under West Virginia-based HD Media LLC. The newspaper delivers dedicated local coverage of county commissioners, municipal school boards, agricultural milestones, community events, and Preble County high school sports.
