About The Pendleton Times-Post
The Pendleton Times-Post is a weekly community newspaper based in Pendleton, Indiana, that serves as the premier source of hometown news for south-central Madison County, including the towns of Pendleton, Lapel, Ingalls, and Markleville. The contemporary publication was created in June 2007 when Home News Enterprises merged two long-standing local weeklies, The Pendleton Times and the Lapel Post, to streamline regional coverage. Notably, under its historical iteration as The Pendleton Times, the paper holds a unique pop-culture legacy for being the very first to publish cartoonist Jim Davis’s earliest comic strips, “Gnorm Gnat” and “Jon” (the prototype for Garfield), during the 1970s. Published every Thursday morning, the paper operates under the AIM Media Indiana group and recently transitioned with its sister properties to West Virginia-based HD Media LLC on September 1, 2026. Operating from its offices at 104 W. High Street, the Times-Post provides dedicated, hyper-local reporting on Fall Creek Township municipal government, community festivals, school board ordinances, local obituaries, and Pendleton Heights high school athletics
