The Pendleton Times-Post is a weekly community newspaper based in Pendleton, Indiana, that serves as the premier source of hometown news for south-central Madison County, including the towns of Pendleton, Lapel, Ingalls, and Markleville. The contemporary publication was created in June 2007 when Home News Enterprises merged two long-standing local weeklies, The Pendleton Times and the Lapel Post, to streamline regional coverage. Notably, under its historical iteration as The Pendleton Times, the paper holds a unique pop-culture legacy for being the very first to publish cartoonist Jim Davis’s earliest comic strips, “Gnorm Gnat” and “Jon” (the prototype for Garfield), during the 1970s.
