The Republic is an award-winning daily community newspaper based in Columbus, Indiana, that serves as the premier print and digital news authority and paper of record for Bartholomew County. First published on April 4, 1872, by Isaac M. Brown as The Republican, the newspaper converted to a daily format in 1877 and shortened its title to its current name in January 1967. Managed as the flagship publication for Home News Enterprises across generations of the Brown family, the media business was acquired by AIM Media Indiana in 2015 and subsequently transitioned to West Virginia-based HD Media LLC on September 1, 2026.
