The Times-Gazette is a historic community newspaper based in Hillsboro, Ohio, that serves as the primary news provider and paper of record for Highland County. Tracing its foundational roots back to June 18, 1818, when it was established as the Hillsborough Gazette, and Highland Advertiser, it ranks among the oldest continuous news outlets in Ohio. In August 2025, to counter rising production and distribution costs, the newspaper merged its physical print layout with the Wilmington News Journal and The Record Herald to form a unified 32-page regional publication called The Connector, while continuing to preserve its own separate, daily-updated digital platform. Previously managed under the AIM Media Midwest umbrella, the publication officially transitioned to new ownership under West Virginia-based HD Media LLC in late summer 2026. The newspaper delivers critical hyper-local reporting on county commissioner decisions, court cases, the annual Highland County Fair, community obituaries, and regional high school athletics.
